RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Lexus RX 350- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here with etrailer.com, and today, we're gonna be taking a look at the RockyMounts GuideRail 2-Bike Platform-Style Bike Rack here on our 2021 Lexus RX 350. Now, with this style of platform rack, you're gonna be holding the bike by the tires here on either end. This is really nice because it's gonna make it accept a really wide variety of bikes. We've got our mountain bike on here today and it fits perfectly fine, but any sort of alternative frame bike, where you might not be able to get a hook on the frame or anything like that, or maybe a carbon frame bike where you don't wanna damage it, it's gonna work great on this, because, again, our point of contact is the tire right here on either side. Now, in addition to that, you get these adjustment points on the wheel cradles. So you can adjust this bolt right here down to fit a smaller size wheel. more

Now it's gonna be a really nice hanging style rack to get you and four bikes to wherever you're going. With a hanging style rack, you do have some limitations. For example, we don't wanna put a carbon frame up here. Hanging by the frame could cause some carbon frame damage but for any other regular bike, you're good to go. more

Unfortunately, this isn't going to be a great option, probably gonna have to start looking at some wheel mounts platform racks. more

As you can see, we have a bike installed, so let's take a closer look and show off some of these features. Now, a really neat feature about this bike rack is that it can swing completely away from your back hatch, giving you full 100% access without it being in the way at all. How we're going to do that is we're going to start down here and we're going to come to this handle and it's actually a bolt that we're going to loosen up all the way. In this position, we're going to gain full access into our back hatch area to get anything in or out that we may need. What's great about this is that we don't have to worry about removing our bike rack or our bikes just to gain that access. Yakima HoldUp Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2007 Lexus RX 350- Video
Today on our 2007 Lexus RX350, we'll be doing a test fit on the Yakima Hold Up Platform Style 2 Bike Rack. That's part number Y02443. I've already got it loaded up on the Lexus, just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it's going to work with our 2 bikes. There's actually zero frame contact with how it holds our bikes into position. We have this large wheel hook going over our front wheel, put down pressure onto our front wheel cradle. In the back, we've got a rear wheel strap going over the rear wheel and ratchets down all in all keeps that in place. We've also got an integrated cable lock within the arm so we can further secure our bikes. more

We've got this large wheel hook going over our front wheel, putting down pressure into our wheel cradle down here. Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2006 Lexus RX 330- Video
Today on our 2006 Lexus RX330 we're test fitting the Thule Vertex hanging-style 4-bike rack, part number TH9029XT. This bike rack is designed to work with 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. The first thing we'll do is take a look at our bike and how it's strapped to the rack. We've got two cradles holding that bike down and then three straps, two on our frame here and one is our anti-sway strap in the back. To release those we're just going to pull down and lift up. We always want to save that anti-sway strap for last, and then when we're loading up our bike, do that first. We'll just take our bike off, set it off to the side. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Lexus RX 350- Video
Today on our 2014 Lexus RX350, we've got the Swagman XC2 00:00:04 out and we're going to test it and see how it fits the back of the vehicle. This is a platform style two-bike rack, it's been designed so that we can use it with an inch and a quarter or with the two inch hitches. Part number on it S64650. Now this is a really, nice light-weight platform style rack. Can't say that a lot about a lot of them because they can get kind of heavy. This isn't the case with this one. It's nice, simple, straight-forward, really easy to use, and very cost effective. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2006 Lexus RX 330- Video
Today on our 2006 Lexus RX, we're test fitting the Thule Vertex Swing-Away Style 4-Bike Rack, part number TH9031XT. The first feature I want to show you is the swing-away. To do so, we'll pull out this T pin here, undo this knob in the back, pull up on the T pin, and pull the bike rack away. When it's about 90 degrees, we turn the rack itself until this bottom T pin is inserted in the hole down here, and we'll keep swinging it out until the holes line up on this bottom pin. Now, as you can see that allows us full access into that back hatch of our vehicle, so we can get anything in or out that we may need. With our hatch closed up, we'll go ahead and take a few measurements. Our closest point to the vehicle is going to be our wheel here. more

Part number on it is SA4025. Now to begin our test fit, we want to slide the shank of the rack right into the receiver tube of our hitch. We need to slide it in far enough so that our threaded hole lines up with our hitch pin hole. With those in line, we're going to take the provided anti-rattle bolt. more

To mount our bike carrier to our vehicle, the first thing we need to do is remove the adapter sleeve which we have already done. Well take the shank of the bike rack and insert it into the receiver tube of our hitch. Well line up the hitch pinholes then well start to tread in our anti rattle bolt and we'll tighten it down with a 3/4 inch wrench. Once we've done that, we're going to check for rear vehicle access. Well remove the pin at the base of the rack and tilt it down. more

One thing to know about this bicycle rack, that it is designed for 2-inch receiver hitches only. First thing well do our test fit is tighten down the anti-rattle bolt and then install the lock on the other side. And then well go ahead and get a couple of clearance measurements. Alright, from the closest point of the bicycle rack to the bumper is going to be 2 inches. more

When you do use this bicycle rack with a class I receiver hitch, youre limited to carrying just two bicycles. This will also work with a 2-inch receiver hitch with the included spacer, and thats what were working with today. Thule Parkway 2 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2010 Lexus RX 350- Video
Today on this 2010 Lexus RX350 we're going to do a test fit of part number TH958 from Thule. This the Parkway bicycle rack.One thing to know about this bicycle rack is it is designed for 2-inch receiver hitches only.Now I'll start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch. Then, we'll go ahead and tighten down the anti-rattle bolt, and then we'll get a couple of clearance measurements.From the bike rack security loop to the bump looks like about 1-1/4 inches. Ground clearance looks like about 14 inches.Now go ahead and tilt the the bike rack out of the way and check for access to the back of the vehicle. That looks good.Now we'll go ahead and load up the bike.First thing we'll do is make sure the straps are out of the way on the cradles we're going to use. Then, we'll load up our bike, balance it out, and then re-install the straps over the top tube of the bike.That's all it takes to load up a bike. more

Then, we'll tighten down the anti-rattle bolt and install the lock on the other side.Then, we'll go ahead and get a couple of clearance measurements. From the bike rack to the hatch clearance is going to be 4-1/2 inches. Ground clearance is going to be 13-1/2 inches.Now, we'll go ahead and tilt the bicycle rack out of the way and check for access to the back of the vehicle. more
